bqlogo_webWhat is Bible Quiz?

Bible Quiz is a test of your knowledge of the Bible. Two teams of three quizzers each face a series of 20 questions varying in difficulty. The first contestant to “buzz in” and answer the question correctly gains points for his or her team; if the contestant answers incorrectly, the team loses points.

Quizzers cover a different portion of the New Testament (NIV) each season. Top quizzers routinely memorize entire books of the New Testament. However, Bible Quiz requires more than just the ability to recite the Bible. Participants must also memorize the people and places mentioned in the passages, become familiar with exclamations, questions, Old Testament passages and more.

Who Can Quiz?

Teens in grades 7 through 12 who attend an Assemblies of God church may participate in Bible Quiz. Each team may have up to 6 members. Churches are allowed an unlimited number of teams. [Junior Bible Quiz is a similar program for students in grades 1 through 6.]

Why Quiz?

Nearly all colleges and Bible schools affiliated with the Assemblies of God offer scholarships to top quizzers and teams. Although awards and ribbons look nice on the wall or in the church trophy case, and scholarship money certainly helps pay for college, neither of those are the most important benefit of Bible Quiz. What’s really important is the Word of God is being “hidden” in quizzers’ hearts. Long after the scholarships are spent and the awards collect dust, the intimate knowledge of God’s Word continues to empower students to live holy lives. In the end, that’s all that really matters.

When does Quiz happen?

Every Sunday, quizzers meet with their coaches for a Bible Study over their study material from 8:30am - 9:00am, and then practice from 9:00am - 10:15am.  TBQ Meets occur once a month on Saturdays from the Fall to the Spring.
